Our Farm in Suffolk

The Wissett Lodge farm of 300 acres has been farmed by the Kiddy family since 1954. Farming wheat, barley and oil seed rape crops with a recent introduction of rare breed Norfolk Horn sheep to grassland. Our lambing season begins in February; visitors can observe new farm arrivals in close proximity to holiday homes.

For many decades, wildlife conservation around the farm has been carefully considered. Ancient hedges surrounding working farm fields are maintained as natural habitats for wildlife. A farm walk (map available) allows visitors to enjoy the beauty of the farm and the encouraged wildlife at ponds, fields and an arboretum, all with stunning views – sunsets are not to be missed!

Local Area

Wissett is a small rural village of 200 people in north east Suffolk, 10 miles from the coast. The village pub, Wissett Plough, is in walking distance. The Saxon round tower church of St Andrew’s has regular Services and is open for visitors. Valley Farm Vineyards is nearby, open for tours and tastings. Close by is Halesworth Fishing Lakes.

The market town of Halesworth is 3 miles away. There is a good range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, plus a weekly Wednesday market. Also a Co-operative supermarket, two fuel stations and the main line railway station with hourly links to London Liverpool Street. The Cut Arts Centre hosts varied performance events, films and festivals throughout the year.

Suffolk enjoys a rich heritage of medieval churches and traditional village pubs. The coast is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  This makes it the perfect place for a farm holiday
